Today was no ordinary day for high school students across Dallas County. The Curtis Culwell Center was transformed into an energizing, hands-on introduction to the world of careers, possibilities, and future employers for Texas Career Day, an event funded by the Texas Workforce Commission. It was a day built around connection, discovery, and inspiration.

Exploring Career Pathways
With over 80 employers and training providers from a dozen industries present, the event was a vibrant hub of opportunity. Representatives from 13 government and public service organizations, 12 manufacturing firms, 7 healthcare providers, and dozens of other companies across technology, hospitality, and finance shared insights into their fields.
The scale of the event was a testament to the community’s dedication to its youth:

Empowering Students with Tools for Success
A major highlight of the day came from Capital One, which went above and beyond by donating 50 laptops to students to support their educational journeys.

This sentiment was echoed by key event sponsor Dallas College, whose representatives were on hand to discuss higher education pathways.

Career Day was built for interaction. Students used virtual reality headsets to explore real-world work environments, struck a pose in the photo booth, and asked thoughtful questions that could shape their next steps. The air buzzed with curiosity as they met potential mentors and learned about internship and apprenticeship programs.
Adding a touch of professional flair, students from Dallas College Fashion Marketing hosted a live fashion show demonstrating how to dress for success. From business casual to interview-ready looks, the models showcased not just clothing, but the confidence that comes with being prepared.
