Comprehensive Services for Veterans and Their Families
Priority Services for Veterans and Eligible Spouses
Honorably discharged veterans and eligible spouses are afforded priority services in our workforce centers. This includes immediate access to:
- Resources: Use of computers, phones, faxes, and referrals to new job postings.
- Staff Assistance: Prompt service from our dedicated staff members.
- Training Programs: Priority access to training programs for which you qualify and for which funding exists.
Eligible spouses include those who are the spouse of a totally disabled veteran, spouses of individuals who while on active duty are currently MIA or forcibly detained, and spouses of individuals who died as a result of a service-connected disability.
Dedicated Support through the Texas Veterans Leadership Program (TVLP)
Our Veterans Resource and Referral Specialists work with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) under the Texas Veterans Leadership Program (TVLP). This initiative is specifically focused on assisting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (OIF/OEF) veterans. Our career specialists, trained by the Texas Veterans Commission, are here to help you maximize employment and training opportunities.

Texas Operation Welcome Home
The Texas Operation Welcome Home campaign provides valuable information for veterans about the benefits of working, living, and playing in Texas. This initiative helps recently separated service members with:
- Translating military skills into civilian terms.
- Locating employment.
- Completing college programs.
- Obtaining appropriate licensure or certifications.
We Hire Vets Program
The We Hire Vets program recognizes Texas employers committed to hiring veterans. Employers with at least 10 percent of their workforce composed of military veterans are eligible to receive a “We Hire Vets” decal for their storefront and a digital decal for their website. Hiring veterans and their spouses can reduce turnover and maintain a more stable workforce over time. Employers may also earn up to $9,600 in federal tax credits through the Work Opportunity Tax Credit program.
Hiring Red, White & You! Statewide Veterans Hiring Event
Each November, Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas participates in the statewide Hiring Red, White & You! event. This initiative, supported by all 28 Texas Workforce Solutions development boards, the Texas Workforce Commission, the Office of the Governor, the Texas Medical Center, and the Texas Veterans Commission, aims to connect Texas veterans and their spouses with employers who value their experience, discipline, and other exceptional qualities.
About the Event
- Statewide Initiative: Hiring Red, White & You! is a joint initiative that brings together thousands of veterans, employers, and community organizations across Texas.
- Networking Opportunities: The event provides a unique platform for veterans to network with employers who are specifically seeking to hire individuals with military experience.
